Data Governance Task Force
The Institutional Data Council (IDC) was established at the recommendation of the Data Governance Task Force in its report, submitted to the Provost in April 2018. In the report, the Task Force detailed both the recommended duties for the IDC and a suggested membership structure.

Institutional Data Council Charge
Per the recommendation of the Data Governance Task Force, Provost Hexter charged the Institutional Data Council in March 2019.
IDC Working Group
In March 2020 the IDC working group, a standing subcommittee of university staff, was charged by the IDC co-chairs to analyze, contextualize, and more generally inform the IDC's work. Members of the working group were identified based on their expertise in areas of data governance, and their ability to provide the IDC with important context necessary for it to carry out its work with maximum efficiency.
Process
The Council has established a workflow for processing issues and data requests it receives from campus stakeholders. A diagram of that workflow can be found below.
